SESSION TYPES
Initial Assessment
At PYC we begin the treatment process with an intake session. In that session you and your provider will assess your needs and determine a treatment plan which includes: therapeutic approaches, type of sessions, frequency of sessions, and estimated length of treatment. Parents of minors are required to attend intake sessions to be actively involved in treatment planning.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is designed to support personal growth and wellness through one on one sessions with your provider. The exact frequency and length of sessions will depend on your personalized treatment plan. Sessions are most typically 50-60 minutes and begin on the hour.
Family Therapy
Family therapy seeks to reduce stress and conflict in the family system by improving interactions between family members. Family therapy may be the primary focus of care or recommended in conjunction with individual or group treatment. Sessions are most typically 50-60 minutes and begin on the hour.
Couples Counseling
The goal of couples counseling is to create a more fulfilling relationship by increasing intimacy, effective communication, mutual understanding, and trust. In couples counseling, the couple is the identified client and works alongside the provider to develop a course of treatment in keeping with mutual goals.
Group Therapy
It is often said that group participation “holds up a mirror” to who we are in the social world. Group therapy allows the client to increase their understanding of themselves in relationship to their social environment. Group therapy provides an opportunity for clients to put relational skills developed in individual sessions into practice with peers.
PYC offers a variety of group therapy options. The specific type of groups offered each cycle are based upon client need/interest, with new group cycles beginning each September and February. Group therapy sessions are 60 minutes or 90 minutes, depending on group type, and meet weekly. Age ranges for group offerings begin at 10 and run through adulthood.
